Message-ID: <000001c679d4$a029a7f0$a0f5fea9@D7WRQ591> All, Here's the first mail to the Textop Advisory Committee discussion forum. I'm writing to solicit your views on the proposal for a wiki-based pilot project, here: http://www.textop.org/pilot_project.html I'm leaning in favor of trying to model the Collation Project, and other projects, using a wiki. The main reason I have for wanting to do this is that I think more people need to be exposed to the key concepts--so that we can have a better-informed discussion about the proper design of Textop. The main (but not necessarily the only) way to use the wiki would be to "collate" a number of philosophy primary sources, perhaps using my work on Hobbes' *Leviathan* as a base. I hope you'll take this opportunity to review the pilot project proposal (linked above) and some of the background docs, if you haven't already, and let me know what you think. By the way, I've made this list unmoderated. With this few members, I doubt we'll generate more than a few mails a day anyway. --Larry From larry.sanger at corp.manyone.net Tue May 30 18:12:38 2006 From: larry.sanger at corp.manyone.net (Larry Sanger) Date: Tue, 30 May 2006 18:12:38 -0700 Subject: [Textop-avs] Ongoing discussion about Textop Message-ID: <001c01c6844f$4f1fba40$7e02020a@D6WD1391> All, I've been involved in some very interesting, high-level discussions with some people on the Textop mailing list: http://lists.dufoundation.org/archive/textop/2006-May/thread.html That's where "the action" is right now. The posters so far have included Dr. Philippe Martin, an information science professor, and Dr. Kunal Sen, Executive Director, International Digital Product Development for Encyclopedia Britannica. I would encourage you to join, if you are interested in discussing Textop. See, I'm now disinclined to use this [Textop-avs] list, because I'd prefer not to try to manage *two* concurrent discussions about Textop along with everything else I'm trying to manage (including baby Henry!). To subscribe, go here: http://lists.dufoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/textop I will continue to pose important questions to the Textop Advisory Committee to [textop-avs-ann]. One other thing you should know is that I've set up a pilot project wiki here: http://www.textop.org/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page I'm going to allow more time for comment before I actually turn the key on a pilot project. --Larry -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
